16th April, 2007. Morning.
33 lives were taken, in the Virginia Tech University.
Just few min later, Chicago Sun-Times reported that the butcher is a Chinese student.
This news report had made our entire domestic news media and headers shock.
Then, the argument began. All around the murderer’s nationality.
But, why the concern?
Shouldn’t we do more concern about the incident itself? There is 33 lives gone away.
Yes, if the murderer is a Chinese, that may cause the hardership for our exchange students and much more rare visa.
However, we should not be so selfish. Every life is much more valuable than anything else, let alone the beautiful young lives.
Some critiques show their concern more about Where. Why United States.
Apparently, the administration of the arms in US should be responsible for these massacres.
But put the huge part of the responsibility to the regime may sounds unwise. We do not have such massacres right now, but we still have many social and school violent incidents. Accompanied with the social development, the spiritual problems would keep growing.
Thus, we should do our efforts on the concerns of individuals, not only the material levels, but also the spiritual ones.
